Gonna be away again for the 3 days. Just a little trip with some friends elsewhere to celebrate Malaysia’s independence day.

To cover for the shoutbox’s bandwidth. Also depending on whether I will be getting satisfactory incentive from the ad thingie, I will be dropping it too. Since that sucks up most of the load time. Lol!

K-On! – Extensive review
It’s Yui Hirasawa’s first year in high school, and she’s eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bass player, are desperately trying to save the school’s light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy.

Got a new cam on Saturday night. Thanks to compulsive buying and Wayne, a retarded friend. LoL!
It’s a Sony A300. Funny thing is, I’ve never been a fan of Sony… Well, except for Ps2. But they have the cheaper camera kits to start off your photography. And I needed something CHEAP. :p
Not long after I returned home and turn on the Pc Razrig@Baka-Steam messaged me to see if I wanted to go for a photo shoot or something the following day. Lol !Talk about perfect timing!
So I tagged along, took some photos as he taught me quite alot of stuffs. I also found out that I suck at remembering roads. -.-”
Editing the Raw files of the photos was another part of the fun with photography; as I fiddled around to see what I can squeeze out of it. The toughest part for me during editing was to decide if I wanted to
1) sharpen everything and lose the smoothness of the color or
2) leave it as it is, giving a more natural feel but slightly blur pictures.
In the end, I decided to sharpen everything. And probably will keep doing so until I learn how NOT to take out of focus shots. :p

Asura Cryin
So, we have Tomo. Your everyday kid with the exception of having a ghost friend, Misao, But hey… Everyone has a ghost friend once in his or her life right? Lol. Anyway, he just started high school and encounter’s a strange senior claiming to be a friend of his elder brother. Tomo is then given a metal suitcase which he later founds out contains an Asura Machina. What is an Asura Machina? That’s where you have to watch the anime to find out.

The nicely animated mech battles made sure that Asura Cryin didn’t drop from being borderline entertaining. Where there weren’t any mechs, there was moe. Thankfully, there are numerous battles scenes throughout the first series, strategically gapped between episodes to make sure the moe didn’t suffocate its viewers. Despite having nothing we haven’t heard/seen of, the blend of Demons and Mechs manages to feel fresh.
Asura Cryin gives off the feeling that it’s trying to avoid being labeled harem, which to me succeeded. And instead, tries to woo viewers with scenes of nice mech battles. I would comment about the characters too but the only characters I remember are Misao and Shuri.
If there were any truth behind love at first sight, it probably happened when I first saw Misao. She is like a perfect balance between Tsundere and Moe. Lol!

And Shuri… Well she just kicks azz… Hard! Could probably be worthy of Snark’s bride. -.-”
Pretty much cruised through the first 10 episodes without anything interesting worthy of mentioning or blogging about other than the battles. It was the last 2 episodes which at least felt like it tried to pull a stunner. It felt so as it added the much needed touch of drama to the series. And with it also comes the feeling that I didn’t sit through 10 episodes of moderation for nothing.
Although doubting why an anime of Asura Cryin’s caliber needed a 2nd season, I will still watch season 2. If the cards are played right, like it did so in the last 2 episodes of season 1, it will definitely be able to crank out an anime which could cause some “huh-hah” around the blogosphere. And frankly, I enjoyed both the mechs and the moes.

For now, here are some pictures of Konami’s Asuna. It was very cheap I’d say, but you get what you pay for I believe. And see the numerous amount of flaws on this Konami figure. The obvious glue marks, seam lines, blur lining, etc. etc.

It was this comment which gave me an idea on the first ever Anime Soundtrack to review. I’ve always kept in mind how Sousei No Aquarion’s theme really captivated me and had me humming years ago when I was still in college. So when someone mentioned opera, I thought I hit point blank. So into the review then…
Review: This album is without a doubt a collection of very strong and solid bgms. However, it pretty much jumps off the building in terms of pure music listening pleasure. You can however, just get the single and cut the hassle if you have no fond of bgms. But wait! Do read this review to find out what you might be missing.
The role of each song is clear. Upon listening I could tell whether if that certain song was meant to be a bgm, or an enjoyable instrumental piece, or a good old vocal song. However, it obviously has problems trying to convey the message hidden in most of the music pieces. Only after the 4th try only did I start picking up the message or emotions the album was conveying. For example, some had such chaotic beats. One moment it was fast, another moment slow, which really made me wonder, what feeling it wanted the listeners to bear at that time. It was jumping from chord to chord without any smooth transition. But no matter the reason, I’m putting out a plea to all of you to just listen to the album at least twice before you brush it aside. Heck, I listened to this album 11 whole times in 2 days.
One thing to take note of is that they really did stick to the theme of the anime, Sousei No Aquarion, which has a combination of angelic characters and mecha battles. Hence why some songs had techno-like feeling (fast paced drum beats) and instrumental classics like how the anime setting was portrayed.
Immediately starting off with Go tight as song no 1. It gets a hold of you when listening to it for the first time. However, the more I listened to the song, the more I realized it is actually rather bland. A few more times and I was already bored. And it really did felt like the album was trying to grab hold of its listener using Go Tight! Hoping the momentary upbeat will last throughout the following 4 songs.
Go tight! by Akino
Next we have CyberFolk Music. The title itself tells you what to expect. This song is a combination of classic meets techno. The music felt lost in translation. At no point did I feel anything the song was trying to convey to its listener. Only the ending of this song did anything for me. Problem is I wouldn’t go through 4 minutes of meaningless “Bump-A-Dump-Bump” just to enjoy the last 1 minute of music.
Drible Drible really is nothing worth mentioning. Only comment I have for this piece is that it really feels like something pulled out of Michiko To Hatchin episode. If you do enjoy Salsa like music or anything of the like, chances are this is your thing. Vatican Dance comes out next to help relaxes its listeners after being fed with the previous 3 fast beat songs by bringing a ballroom waltz feel. Doesn’t leave much of an impression to comment on however.
Shinwa Teki Gikou Sonata is one song I definitely have to talk about. I was just doing the usual at work. Listening to this album. Then this song starts. Upon a few seconds into the piano plays, images of tidal waves and hurricane hitting the shores of a beach pop in my head. Literally!
Then as the song ended, images of the shores calming down appeared, though this time, the calm beach image was something I came up with to match what felt like the story the music was trying to tell me. I gave myself a smirk of doubt and thought, “Hey, let’s see what else this song can do”. Call me crazy but that’s what happened. So what I can tell you is that this song does its job extremely well. It manages to bring listeners the message in the music. But it still isn’t something I see myself listening to in the long run.
Shinwa Teki Gikou Sonata by Yoko Kanno
Baron to Taiyou is something nice and light. Give this song a few tries; see if it grows on you. It certainly did on me. And it certainly worked as great opener for the next piece which I deem the meaning of existence for this album, the song Celiane. So soothing it brings about a serene feeling which till today and to me, remains a piece only matched by a select few. To be honest, Celiane is the whole reason I chose to review this album. So what I would do now is that to remain unbiased, I will not comment any further and let you fellow readers to sample the music and judge for yourself. I am confident however, that this song is not to everyone’s taste. All I ask is for an open mind when listening to it and if possible accept the calmness it brings.
Celiane by Gabriela Robin
Unfortunately, immediately after that the album again plummets with music which were never meant for listening pleasure. Diet Waltz an uninspiring piece qualified at most to only appear as bgm for animes. Psychedric Academy’s first impression was it was just another Techno-crap. However, when I listen to it over and over again, I could get a slight hint of the strong violin and I realize that this could have been a good song. If only it wasn’t overcrowded by the funky beats and the monkey effects. Lol! Literally. There were monkey cries in the song going “HuHuHaHa”.
Nike 15sai, a song which really felt out of place here. Having a good song like this trapped between the others. Another song which I grew to enjoy. Akina’s dry feeling voice has a certain type of charm to the ears. Wasn’t too fond of the instrumental break at 3:25 though. Something about that just didn’t feel smooth. Otherwise, definitely a nice song to listen to every now and then.
Heaven’s Gate, Exodus and BLAQARION. These three are pieces which manage to build up tension especially during the end of the music. And with this I realize another flaw with this album. It was too stagnant. There were too many songs portraying the same emotions. And to have them arranged back to back three in a row. It really got irritating.
Now this piece, Tooma no Shintaku, I really took a liking to. It actually has a nice slow start which really made me feel like this song had potential and *Snap!* It transits into a nice tune with a vocal which, although felt down-to-earth, but exceptionally calming. Seikan Renrakusen, strictly just a bgm piece and will not work anywhere else without a visual. Offering what felt like a combination of just a handful of notes, it almost felt monotone. Vector Return provides a majestic like experience to the album. It felt like something grand, like something out of a “The King and I” play. Again, although it does not provide much entertainment for the ears. It did achieve its goal of providing listeners with images which I felt were intentional.
Genesis of Aquarion. Wow! It sure felt long to get me to this song. Another very nice song I might add. I was quite surprised to find out that it was also from Akino, remember how her voice felt different from “Nike 15sai”. In this song, her voice felt softer. It starts with a low tone acapella and as the song starts reaching midway, things pick up and Akino shows what her high pitch can do. Akino really strut her stuff in this song. Sad to say that again, there was a part I wasn’t too particularly fond of and that was when, at 2:44 of the song, it began to feel like a church choir. It felt a little out of place and didn’t blend well with the initial image I had of the song.

Unfortunately, it seems that there isn’t really much information about Akino in the web. Googling around, this (http://www.last.fm/music/AKINO) was the only info I could dig up. Apparently she is from a group called bless4 (http://www.last.fm/music/bless4/+wiki). And to answer your doubts, No! I am not an Akino fanboy.
And to have such a good song followed by another. First Love Final Love is, to me, the best instrumental piece of the album. No other instrumental piece in this album has managed to give me goosebumps except for this song. I could feel the start of the song calming me with a peaceful pace. Nice and easy. Then slowly the instruments get stronger. And next cue, a little choir to give you tranquility. Then at 2:44, beau-ti-ful. GOOSEBUMPS all over! Probably even wet eyes if you think of something happy hard enough. Lovely! By the end of the last song, Rena to Tanpopo, listeners could probably get the main repetitive tune of the album, as the tune is most obvious here in the nice softly toned piano. If you did, you would probably end up loving it. And hence, a befitting conclusion to the end of this album.
First Love, Final Love by Yoko Kanno?
The most unique characteristic of this album is that most songs felt like a combination of 2 songs. The start of a song would be totally different from the end of the song. And with this a single song could make you feel both upbeat and tensed. But that is also its biggest flaw. I have difficulty bringing myself to liking the songs as a whole. It is only certain parts about the song which I feel fond of or enjoy.
Things would probably have ended up better should the album have been better sorted to not have all the instrumentals (pure classics) and newer variety (classics and techno) together playing back-to-back.
Recommended Keepers: Baron to Taiyou, Celiane, Nike 15sai, Genesis of Aquarion, First love Final love, Rena to Tanpopo
So by now, it is up to you listeners to decide, if the highlights of this album are worth listening to the dreaded repetitive instrumentals and bad combination of fast paced beats. If they are good for you, I would have accomplished the goal of this post and introduced yet another new music to your collection. ;p

Taking a day off on Saturday to attend G.A.C.C. has really come back to nip me in the butt as a sudden increase of the workload at the factory has pushed us behind schedule. Nothing we can’t handle but something all workers hate.

Before I call it an end to the G.A.C.C. posts, I’d like to mention of how I might not be as active as before. Seeing how my animes are stacking up. I reeeaally need to spend more time on it. Been saying I would for a while now, but always didn’t get to it. I don’t want it to end up a dead pile. Already have way too many dead piles caused by my hobbies. I have a corner filled with car parts no longer used, another corner filled with bicycles parts which I never got around to assemble, a stack of Wii games which I have never touched since buying, and a few manga’s here and there also collecting dust.
I’ll also be trying to cut down on figures. Saving’s been emptying out.
That and I have the sudden urge to get a better camera. Comparing my pictures of the cosplayers to other bloggers, I pity myself. Lol! Horrid resolutions. -.-”
And lastly, want to apologize for not dropping by all other fellow blogger’s hideout lately. I thought it should be a cinch at first, but been hectic trying to stick to my a-post-a-day rave. Which will last until 23rd this month. After that things will slow down… I guess… :p

If you are looking for some cosplayers pics, please come back tomorrow or the day after. I rather talk about the trip and the live performances at G.A.C.C. today.
First off, thanks to Razrig and the guys for having me tag along to G.A.C.C. all the way across the state. Met up with very interesting otakus like Razrig, Ikman, Linkin, Misao, Quazacolt, Eg and Fenrir; and later on E-jump and Wisefreeman. I’m pretty sure someone would be blogging about G.A.C.C. by now, so instead of that, I’ll be writing about the trip first, from the views of a 2nd time convention go-er, as mundane as it is (Hey! It’s my blog! :p) Yes, I’m hiding behind the noObie label again and taking the easy way out… :p
And later on, about the live performance which KICKS ARSZE!!!
Now back to the trip.
Razrig picked me up on Friday night 7pm or so. Met him, Ikhman, and Linkin for the first time and off we went towards Melaka. Got to know each other better as we chat on about animes, conventions, figures, more animes.
*Note to self: You KNOW you’ve got to watch more animes when you don’t know more than HALF the series everyone is talking about
Journey was over before we knew it. Arrived at the designated point and we reached our apartment for the next 2 days in a flash. Spent a few hours fiddling around and had a good time laughing at the cordless Wii that linkin brought. Lol!
Got to warm-up the photography skills. Photo skills by Razrig. Showing me how it’s done! :p
Misao reached with EG, Fenrir and Quazacolt at 2am plus. Got a short drink, Linkin molested some cats, and back to the apartment we went. Apparently, A cat is fine too (Inside joke.. :p). Being the “new” guy, I was just sitting around, being “awkwardly” quiet as I try to get to know everyone better. Time: 4am; Repeat Stage: Awkwardly quiet; and off to bed I go. Everyone else was still chatting, doing some gunplay… basically just chilling.
Not to sure if they mind me putting a name with their face. So I’m not gonna do that for now
9am! The time has come! Woke up, prepare again chill a little before we went for breakfast and head on down to MMU. If I’m not mistaken, we reached there about 10.30am or so. What followed was a terrible wait which lasted till 12pm. G.A.C.C. was supposed to start at 11am mind you. However, I won’t make too much of a noise about it. Just making a fact that it was a shitty wait. Not in a flaming mode I guess. Well, never was much of a flamer. What was I talking about again?
KO’ed for sleeping at 4~5am. Lol!
Oh ya, I’m not going to bitch about the long wait because it was super freaking crazy worth it. Remember this line I just said for later reference.
12pm, doors open and in the crowd goes. Another thing about the door gifts for the first few entrees disturbs me. But again, I won’t mention it cause it’s not worth my effort to think or write about it more than I’ve already have. It’s something miniscule I guess. And now, from something small I’ll move on to talk about something big.
Hot mascot! I hope to one day get a mascot like that for Anime3r
Did you know that you are not suppose to expose dolfie to flashes? The lady behind the booth was shouting “No flashes No flashes” When a few photographers were taking pictures of the dolfie. Luckily, my camera doesn’t use flash. The flash sucks. lol!
And the live performance was BIG! FREAKING HUGE! Listening to the bands, I had a BLAST! Capitalize every fucking word! Even the exclamation mark too! Arigato! :p
All these performances were not those half assed attempts to pass time mind you. It really really rocked! And I think sitting barely 5 meters away from the speakers had something to do with it. Lol!

First off, thanks to Razrig and the guys for having me tag along to G.A.C.C. all the way across the state. Met up with very interesting otakus like Razrig, Ikman, Linkin, Misao, Quazacolt, Eg and Fenrir; and later on E-jump and Wisefreeman. I’m pretty sure someone would be blogging about G.A.C.C. by now, so instead of that, I’ll be writing about the trip first, from the views of a 2nd time convention go-er, as mundane as it is (Hey! It’s my blog! :p) Yes, I’m hiding behind the noObie label again and taking the easy way out… :p
And later on, about the live performance which KICKS ARSZE!!!
Now back to the trip.
Razrig picked me up on Friday night 7pm or so. Met him, Ikhman, and Linkin for the first time and off we went towards Melaka. Got to know each other better as we chat on about animes, conventions, figures, more animes.
*Note to self: You KNOW you’ve got to watch more animes when you don’t know more than HALF the series everyone is talking about
Journey was over before we knew it. Arrived at the designated point and we reached our apartment for the next 2 days in a flash. Spent a few hours fiddling around and had a good time laughing at the cordless Wii that linkin brought. Lol!
Got to warm-up the photography skills. Photo skills by Razrig. Showing me how it’s done! :p
Misao reached with EG, Fenrir and Quazacolt at 2am plus. Got a short drink, Linkin molested some cats, and back to the apartment we went. Apparently, A cat is fine too (Inside joke.. :p). Being the “new” guy, I was just sitting around, being “awkwardly” quiet as I try to get to know everyone better. Time: 4am; Repeat Stage: Awkwardly quiet; and off to bed I go. Everyone else was still chatting, doing some gunplay… basically just chilling.
Not to sure if they mind me putting a name with their face. So I’m not gonna do that for now
9am! The time has come! Woke up, prepare again chill a little before we went for breakfast and head on down to MMU. If I’m not mistaken, we reached there about 10.30am or so. What followed was a terrible wait which lasted till 12pm. G.A.C.C. was supposed to start at 11am mind you. However, I won’t make too much of a noise about it. Just making a fact that it was a shitty wait. Not in a flaming mode I guess. Well, never was much of a flamer. What was I talking about again?
KO’ed for sleeping at 4~5am. Lol!
Oh ya, I’m not going to bitch about the long wait because it was super freaking crazy worth it. Remember this line I just said for later reference.
12pm, doors open and in the crowd goes. Another thing about the door gifts for the first few entrees disturbs me. But again, I won’t mention it cause it’s not worth my effort to think or write about it more than I’ve already have. It’s something miniscule I guess. And now, from something small I’ll move on to talk about something big.

Did you know that you are not suppose to expose dolfie to flashes? The lady behind the booth was shouting “No flashes No flashes” When a few photographers were taking pictures of the dolfie. Luckily, my camera doesn’t use flash. The flash sucks. lol!
And the live performance was BIG! FREAKING HUGE! Listening to the bands, I had a BLAST! Capitalize every fucking word! Even the exclamation mark too! Arigato! :p
All these performances were not those half assed attempts to pass time mind you. It really really rocked! And I think sitting barely 5 meters away from the speakers had something to do with it. Lol!

One day Junichi Nagase comes across two boys tormenting Yuuhi Katagiri. When he steps in to help they run off calling him “Geno Killer”. He then walks off without introducing himself or allowing the girl to either. The next day to both of their surprise she is introduced as a new transfer student to his class. The following day due to a misunderstanding he kisses her which greatly upsets her. That evening to his surprise and dismay she shows up to his door saying she is his fiancee and that she has come to live with him to evaluate him to see if he is worthy of her. Much hi-jinx ensues as the days go by.

Have you watched Ristorante Paradiso? Remember the ending song for that anime? How it made you feel? Well Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka brings about the same sensation, sufficient kusu-kusu and fuwa-fuwa with just a tad of doki-doki every now and then. :p
That was what it made me feel. Unfortunately, having the lack of strong contents means that this will be a short review. 2 episodes down and I still had nothing solid to comment on.
Graphics are good. I also enjoyed the voice casting. Crazy amount of ending theme. Throughout the anime, all I could derive was that I was having a relaxing time and Junichi and Minato has an obvious siscon which the anime thrives on for the latter half of the series.
To be Emo or to be moe…
Emo… Moe.. Sigh..
What does emo and moe have in common? Yes.. They use the same 3 alphabets. But that’s not the answer I was looking for.
The answer is that both are to be found in episode 12 of Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka.
Don’t be misled, classes like this DO NOT exists. Yeah sure you can do it if you had the money and power, but if you had it, you wouldn’t need a class in the first place. Catch my drift?
I’ll be honest here, I downloaded this anime because I heard there was a lot of fanservice. Instead all I got was a mindless anime which was surprisingly enjoyable to watch as it slowly sucked the brain juice from my very mind as I try to process each episode. By episode 9, it was time to take the sister complex to another level! Let’s have the sister falling for her bro too now. Up to episode 10, probably deciding to do a proper ending, the comedy dropped and the romantic aspect of the anime were focused on. The scenes reminded me on a short but coming ending just around the corner. Felt like a nice touch there.
Again Uniforms and Tentacles but no fan service. Well.. Actually… Minimal fanservice. :p
Reminds me of the opening theme in Clannad After Story, where Nagisa was walking along a road too.
Episode 8 brought about an alien. So bouncy it even seemed fake for a 2d chick. It’s a .gif file. Click on it, let it load, see the alien for yourself.
Nago-nago is the coolest character. Albeit the weirdest and most mysterious. Mirsad too? I don’t know.
Stupid things like this is what kills the impact of a nicely scripted episode. Being so full of tears one minute and happily chatting the next. Wtf?! Talk about fast recovery.
At the rate the pesky friends were constantly asking how things were. I would have shouted at them to lay off and give me some time to think about things.
I would love for a Sensei to come pick me up in a chopper (Provided it’s comfortable.. -.-”) to do some rounds around town.
Wouldn’t matter if it was a male or not. However, the following line would certainly ring an alarm in my head though.
I finally understand that it is exactly because I don’t expect anything from this anime that I am able to enjoy it so much.
I would love to give this a 4-star rating but the constant suggestion of incest bothers me (I’ll be damned if anyone believes that… Lol!) but let’s be honest here… (Spoiler Warning: Highlight to read) to those who watched this, we all know that they’re not blood related now are they. Therefore it isn’t reeeaaally incest… technically… probably… I guess… -.-“
I think I just degenerated a little. NoOOoo… I don’t want to be a Borak. Seriously though, I hate the Borak movies.
At the end of the day, Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka is a good watch, ONLY if you do not expect to be awed. It’s a run-of-the-mill comedy anime only different from the rest by the constant mention of siscon and a little above average graphics, nothing more. However, it does what it’s meant to do and I did have a good time watching it, so 3-stars then (borderline 4-Star but nahhh..). Even now as I write this review, I’m still contemplating on whether this is a keeper or not.

Something slightly unique in which I can again test my writing skills. But being barely acquainted with her, I dropped the idea in fear of me sounding like a stalker if I asked for an interview so suddenly. Well, it’s been 2 months since then and few days back, we had a chat. I found out that she was among the top 10 in the Dell College Idol contest. A few messages later and I proposed to Jiayi the interview idea. Initially worried about not being interesting enough for me to write about, she was doubtful. But as we chat on, I managed to convince her and Ta!Dah! As a result… A featured post as follows.

Jiayi: Ahhh… I don’t like this question
I’m a 20 year old girl who love music and love arts a lot. I love everything related to music. Sing, dance, playing instruments and composing songs. A dreamer and loves simple life and simple people. A bit introvert and shy, and not good at socializing T.T

blur: What got you into singing?
Jiayi: Ehm… Let me think. I’m not sure also…
blur: Or rather, do you remember the first time you enjoyed singing?
Jiayi: I started to fall in love with a J-pop group called Speed when I was 12 and then started to learn their songs and dances. I enjoyed every moment whenever I held a mini concert at home. And maybe the thing that lead me deep into singing stuff started when I started composing songs?
Hmm… Ya something like that.

Jiayi: When I started to perform on stage I deeply fell in love with singing and had to sing every day. When I got sore throat, that’s my black day
blur: Lol. How did you come across Daicon 09? And subsequently joining the karaoke contest?
Jiayi: Coz it’s held in my campus and my friends are the working committee and I think I was informed by them about the karaoke competition so I joined it for interest
blur: The moment you heard about the contest you just knew you had to join and test yourself?
Jiayi: Something like that and I felt thrilled because I always wanted to sing Japanese songs in a competition since I started my singing interest with J-Pop instead of Chinese songs
blur: What was your practice routine for Daicon? Or did you require little practice?
Jiayi: Ehm… Actually the hardest part is to memorize the song lyrics. I actually pick a song that I just knew for 2 months b4 Daicon for the final. And I actually just memorized the lyrics 2 days before the competition cause i wasn’t confident i would get into finals too. Practice is needed, but I didn’t do very much oso ><

Jiayi: That one is for the preliminary round the song I meant was Koda Kumi’s Moon crying

blur: Has things been any different after winning the Daicon contest? A sudden boost in popularity perhaps?
Jiayi: No. Seriously, nothing changed.
blur: I see that you also cosplayed during Daicon, was that your first?
Jiayi: YEA! I was soooooo … I dunno how to describe it.
Was excited! I always loved to dress myself up and cosplay is a way to make yourself look good and attract attention right. I knew a gal from the karaoke competition on the 1st day and she is so nice. Lent me her cosplay costume.

Last time we chat, you mentioned you were a gamer too. What are the games that you play?
Jiayi: I’m not a gamer. I only play simple games like car racing in the arcades and maybe shooting games. But not those complicated online war games. Online games need a lot of patience and time. So not really suitable for me. Street Fighter and Dance Revolution is nice.
blur: Gamer also applies when you play arcades and stuff too.. ;p Just not online.
What system do you play Street Fighter on?
Jiayi: I played on PS 1! I played when I was young with my dad. PS1 still exists in my house! And that’s the 1st time I played SF on a PS3 is during CyberFusion

Tayutama – Kiss on my Deity
At Yachimata, there is a legend of a deity named Tayutayu-sama who protected the area, but this deity and other so-called “Tayutai” have been lost in time. Mito and his friends discover a relic on the school grounds with mysterious patterns on them. Then, at the opening ceremony of the new school year, an equally mysterious girl named Mashiro appears before Mito. Mashiro is somehow tied to the relic and the legend of Tayutayu-sama.

Talk about perfect timing.
In episode 1, everything was well. There were comedy, spirits /deities/Tayutai/whatever you want to call em, your usual moe goddess, a typical tsundere, the blur looking best friend who always manage to seem more interesting than the lead male. Nothing worth mentioning, but rule of thumb, always watch more than the first episode before dismissing an anime. And since I enjoyed the comedy in the first ep, as predictable as it was*, I decided to continue with the following episode.
Then episode 2 came, it took a deeeeeeeeep dive as I tried to keep myself interested. That episode was about Mashiro wanted to attend school.
“Oh man! Please don’t do another school “life” story!”
I needed something refreshing and moe + school just wasn’t it. Few minutes later Mashiro was accepted to school, attends the first class and was chatting with other classmates feeling welcomed.
Admire the Pancaked face which some call animation. And the cockroach head too.
Next, Mashiro’s hairy ears caught the attention of her classmates and she accidentally reveals her tail too (she’s a fox-like spirit by the way). Seeing this, the classmates got scared and backed away as Mashiro is again reminded by the difference between a Tayutai and humans. Mashiro starts feeling lonely as she faces isolation. Perfect timing indeed as I was just reaching for the fast forward button on my player.
This short minute was what made me NOT skip and continue on with the rest of the series. It gave me hope that this anime was not completely mindless moe and could possibly pull something off emotionally.
How long has it been since a male lead drives a “cool” bike? GTO? Ah My Goddess? Possibly the only “cool” scene the lead has for the entire series.
Then the “Kirukami (a.k.a. Mashiro) Vs other 3 strongest Tayutais” plot came to light by episode 3 and it became horrendous. Paving the way for utter Crap-dom. Needed to pop an aspirin before I could continue on with episode 7. The expired sushi I had didn’t help with the situation either. Literally.
Even the preview scenes with the cat were better
In episode 8, Uryuu died and I started enjoying it again. Remember about the perfect timing I was talking about earlier? Screw that, by the end of episode 9, I hopefully thought that since the Mashiro vs Tayutai plot has ended, this anime actually felt enjoyable again. Tayutama might still be able to salvage what’s left of its remaining episodes!
Well, apparently not, Mr. Dragon (literally his name right?) decides to make a comeback which tops all bad Elvis spottings. Standing on top of a pole, talking to the moon, posing like the gay that he is and BAM! End of episode along with all hopes of salvation.
At one point, Mito and Mashiro exchanged words which were so inspiring and managed to touch me deeply… BALLLZ!!! Haven’t felt such a load of pointless banter in a while.

“Since you believe in me, I will also believe in you” (Hmm… Is it me or does this sound like someone GAR? :p)
“I won’t let Machiro be alone again”
“Please believe me”
“I’m really sorry”
And to think I though Naruto Shippudden 106-112 was bad. Well, Tayutama is not that bad but it sure came pretty close. At one point, I actually wished Tayutama had fanservice.
Blur: So… I watched Tayutama the other day.

Tentacles and Uniforms but no fanservice
The ONLY good thing about Tayutama is its music. It had a rather standard but still wonderful BGM. The type which would work in probably any anime. As for it’s opening and closing, also good, but wouldn’t recommend listening to it too often at any given time. Approaches boredom pretty fast.
Mediocrity is an understatement when it comes to Tayutama. All I can hope for now is that no lives were lost in the making (or fansubbing) of this anime. If any did, R.I.P…

Some are simple and short like “Date Masamune’s gonna come kick your shiny little butt” but some can go like “Mio’s gonna go to the local conbi, buy a lot of yaoi and fold paper planes out of them. But will probably run into Yui before that and give a lame excuse for the yaoi’s she’s carrying before giving Yui a wedgy and running off”.
By now I am thinking I need to spend more time interacting with actual live humans instead of staring at the monitor every little chance I get. Lol!

And decided to left it as is and not edit it to reflect the time of posting cause I got some ideas from commenting on other blogs which kind of puts certain things into perspective.

Ok, it’s Saturday night and I’m stuck at home… Time to Rant!
Recently, I have come to conclude and accept the fact that Anime3r will never be a high traffic blog.
Why so? Easy…
First off is the way I watch and blog about animes. I always watch animes only after I have gotten hold of the entire series. Maybe I’ll start one if they have more than 30 episodes or so. But before a series ends or if it is less than 30 eps, the most I would do is browse through an episode, make sure the quality is good before chucking it back into my On-going folder. So you can already count the ep-to-ep crowd of the blogosphere out of my traffic count. However, I still do check out episodic reviews around other blogs every now and then to see how a series is going, and also to pick up some good grammar and another point appears.
Having not watched new releases, I have no comments and won’t be able to contribute constructively. I sure as hell won’t post a comment not knowing what I’m talking about. And thus out the window goes the crowd who click on comment links.
And of course, by the time I do indeed post up a review about an anime. It would be so late that all the hype or potential for interest had been lost. Imagine me doing a review of K-On a month from now. Wouldn’t exactly stir your interest now would it.
Next on the list are my blogging skills. I have absolutely no talent when it comes to writing intellectual posts or thought provoking articles. I could try… but I’d probably suck. The skill I do have, but still suck at, is whine. In fact, this post has been about me whining… all the way.
I also have this shitty habit of looking through older posts instead of the new ones. So even if I do comment, it is in a secluded spot where nobody sees except for the author. I just have a fondness for the slightly antique feel an old post brings about. If there were any irritating forum member who always revives old threads with the nickname “blur” or anything similar, that would be me. :p
Combine all the previous points and there isn’t much to debate about whether how Anime3r will fare further down the blogging route. Traffic will never hit top stats. Instead, I’m more than happy with readers who found something interesting at Anime3r and post comments whether it be constructive insults or appreciation or anything. Cause that lets me know you bothered enough to spend some bandwidth and time on Anime3r.
And In case you didn’t notice, Yeah… I’m whining about the low traffic.

Ristorante Paradiso
Nicoletta is a young woman who decides to go to Rome to see her mother who left her when she was just a child. She went there with the intention of revealing her relationship with her mother to her mother’s lover who owned a restaurant. At the restaurant Nicoletta meets Claudio, a cameriere, and is instantly drawn to him.

After seeing the first 2 episodes, the conclusion I drew was that Ristorante Paradiso was going to be an anime about some love triangle trapped in a harem restaurant filled with old geezers. It really threw me off guard as to what to expect in the coming episodes.
Don’t get me wrong, it turn out just as I mentioned, love triangle in harem restaurant indeed, but what I didn’t expect was how crazily addictive it could get.
Watching this I feel like I was sucked into the peaceful environment of Ristorante Casetta Dell-orso, the restaurant in the anime in which most airtime takes place. The story was exciting in a romantic way as Nicoletta bonds with others with each passing episode and as the series tells the history of Ristorante Casetta Dell-orso, its staffs and its patrons in a comfortable way.
A great slice-of-life that achieves perfect pacing and a relaxing atmosphere. The world around me stops as time flies by as I drown myself in the charm of each episode. Smiling like a love-drown fool looking at the monitor. Lol!
Ristorante Paradiso explored every character with just the right balance of airtime. Characters were given enough depth without hogging up any particular episode. The staffs’ romantic pasts really sparks up the whole anime.
Characters were drawn to really bring out the European feel; Big mouth, big nose, slightly deep eye sockets. Using a mixture of thick and soft lines, coupled with the watercolor background.
The inconsistencies between some particular scenes were obvious.
Look at the beautiful cars, then look at the fingers around holding the cup -.-”
Good opening and closing theme. Suteki na Kajitsu (ステキな果実) by Lisa Komine, is an ending theme which blends so well with the mood of the anime.

Nicoletta didn’t exactly give a good first impression when all she talks about in the first 2 episodes was about falling in love with someone’s husband who looks easily 20 years older than her. Not that I have a problem with the age, seeing how I also fantasize about having a 25 year old wife when I turn 40. It just makes Nicoletta seem shallow.
It was great that she focused herself on her cooking skills in the later episodes. Challenging cooking brought another level of depth to her and saves her from nailing the dull “All-I-Can-Think-About-Is-You” sign on her forehead.
Enjoy Nicoletta’s deep thoughts as it reflects on the experience of each episode and shows how she grows through the series

Having just a slight bumpy opening episode, it was smooth sailing from episode 2 till the end. Could have milked out the ending just a tad more, giving it another episode to grow. Instead of ending it in a quick one-two-shoot-cut after the birthday party scene. Though, having a slightly short ending did not deter it from giving off a sense of brilliance. Ristorante Paradiso, an anime that lets you appreciate the finer things in life.
