Today… my heart fluttered many many times; As friends expressed how much they like my photography.
As will most photographers when they are told how much you admire their work.
So do the right thing.
Tell someone how much you admire their work today (only if it’s true of course)
And put the discouraged heart at ease.
Even if that photographer is an infamous one. >D

Today… I had 16 emptied batteries. None left to power my flash.
.
It’s a sad story really.
I have a habit. I keep newly charged batteries in boxes.
And used or emptied batteries out of the box.
Went to this shoot with a box full of batteries.
But the moment I start shooting, 4 just died off after another.
Switched batteries. Fires 2~3 rounds. And stops responding again.
Batteries lasted me only the first two cosplayers.
After that, I just had to shoot away.
Regardless of how the flash would sometimes fire.
Sometimes not.
And even when it did fire, it’s some half-arsed choked up sorry excuse of light.
MOOOD KILLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Anyway.. reflecting on it later.
I’m pretty sure it’s because my batteries have been around for 3 years (rechargables)
And the fact that I’ve not used them for months. Despite being fully charged the last time I touched them.
Lesson of the day…
Charge your batteries EVEN if you have not used them since the last time you charged.
Well.. depending on how long was the last time you used them.
They say that doing that might kill your battery.
But Hey!!
I would have rather killed the batteries than to have such a big slip-up during a shoot!

Would like to shift focus on to studios, something indoors.
That would really test my creativity now would it.

Somewhere I can setup my lights and leave it.

Today… I shot way too little people given the amount of time I had.
I was reminded that you really can’t bank on personal shoots at an event.
There are too many cosplayers, too little time.
Other things to consider at events is the fact that lightings will never be the same
as you move around the convention hall.
Maybe looking for walls to bounce off to.
But if you want the lighting you want, you can setup your own light stands and softboxes.
Even so, upon doing that, you no longer have the mobility to move around chasing cosplayers.
Unless you get someone else to look after your stuff. Lol.
You are gonna have to hope that cosplayers will come to you instead.
And even then, the cosplayers who came to you for some photos might not necessarily be er.. convincing.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that events could be the most random source of photos for one.
You might turn up with amazing photos.
You may turn up with horrible photos.
You may even lose all your photos due to memory card malfunction.

Regardless of what photos you turn out with.

Was contemplating on whether to jump to Canon. More specifically, a Canon 6D.
Think about it.
With the price I have to pay for an a99,
I can get a Canon 6D and still have enough for a decent lens.

Another factor giving me the drive is the fact that the a99′s noise performance is still lacking when compared to the general others.
Also, I’m more tempted on the videography factor of a d-slr than the photographic performance.
Seeing how i don’t shoot much this days. An all rounder would be better use.
Gonna take my time with this. Lol.
