AIKa Zero OVA

Aika’s story continues, she is now 19 years-old, 3 older than in R-16 and 7 younger than in Agent AIKa. Strange phenomena have been occuring at a girls academy. Slowly but persistent the most cute and beautiful girls are joining an internal club, but instead of a sing-in they just get abducted by a strange being that takes control over them by some indecent means. By coincidence Aika was flying-by on her plane when one of this abductions occured and she was attacked to prevent her from comming closer, but instead of repelling her, she is intrigated about the attack origin and then the opportunity shows up when her late partners from R-16 decide to investigate those abductions. The story remains full of action and panty flashing that are a must in Aika’s series.

4 minutes into the anime, I was already laughing. I noticed that there were A LOT of pantsu. So much so that I started counting for the fun of it. Needless to say I lost count. I know that this series has always been a total fanservice. But I didn’t expect it to break world records for pantsu flashing.
Seeing that I’m not sure as to whether how many episodes there will be for this series. I’m leaving this a as preview post instead. Instead, for further understanding of the anime. I present to you what is but a handful of the total pantsu scenes in the anime. The biggest flaw so far, if there were going to be that much pantsu shots in the episode, at least put in enough effort to show some variety in the designs.

Summary of Lots
Seeing that I was free for the past 2 days and was feeling a little down. I went into hikkimori mode and finally took the time to clear off some OVAs, movies and other one off episodes I had stored in my PC since the dawn of time. Initially was gonna do a proper review for them but that would hurt my brain… really badly! So took the lazy way out and here they are accompanied by super short thoughts.
Kannagi 14 DVD Special
- Although nothing felt a missed, it still lacks the punch which sent me laughing off my chair in the original series.

- This is a great anime. If you are a fan of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. You’d love this. It isn’t as wicked or violent or twisted as Higurashi. But the storyline is more solid. Prioritizing logic over fiction. Definitely a Must-watch!

Miname-ke Betsubara OVA
- I still don’t find how Miname-ke is a good watch. I did realize a pattern where the male characters, Hosaka and Fujioka, are more blunt with their jokes. At least you know when it’s suppose to be a joke from them.

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka OVA
- *Taking a breather to cool myself before I type this* This OVA is borderline echi. Strictly a fanservice episode. No story, no plot, and LOTS of skin. Good thing I found the humor sufficient (Woo! Learned today that humor = American, humour = British). Now excuse me while I go search for the full series ;p

Babel II

I didn’t bother to finish the first episode. But basically this anime is about a kid who can control a Pterosaurs (flying dinosaur for the uninitiative), a cougar (or panther.. Choose one), and a robot. And as usual he uses these in the means of stopping evil.

Ok. It doesn’t matter how dedicated I am to reviewing animes. I am NOT going to watch this. Lol! Sure.. It might have been a hit in the past, but it looks way too oldskool even for me. o_0! Heck.. Babel II is even older than me.
The remake, Babel II – Beyond Infinity, however, does look interesting and if you want a better explanation to the plot. You can try looking at the link too.
According to this reply, Blue Fixer plans to fansub the whole thing. So if you guys are up to it, by all means go ahead. ![]()
A classic is still a classic regardless whether I review it or not. Who knows, it might be something which turns out to be something memorable.

Infinite Space

The software developers Platinum Games and Sega have scheduled their Mugen Kōro – Infinite Space science-fiction roleplaying game for the Nintendo DS portable console next spring and announced the October launch of animated short films for the project. The game centers around Yūrī, a young man who journeys across lawless space and becomes a spaceship captain. The animation studios GONZO and Production I.G are producing short movies to promote the game and develop its world and storyline. The first of the movies will premiere at the Tokyo Game Show on October 9 and then will run on the game’s official website on October 17. Source: AnimeNewsNetwork.com

Whenever a game company finds a full fledge anime studio to produce some short films or cinematics, you know that it can’t be anything bad. Infinite Space is no different. I won’t rate it since it isn’t really a full anime title. Even if I did, it will probably get somewhat low points since there really isn’t much of a story to go about from the animation alone and I don’t plan to play the game. But animation and sound wise, it does passes with flying colors. Animation and artwork was able to bring out a sense of greatness having a whole whopping lot of spaceships. I did find the color choice a little dull for both character and non-character designs, but I do understand that it’s hard to flex with the limitations of having to stick to the original game design.

If only the encoded quality didn’t dropped, else it could have been a good addition to a collection. Yeah yeah! I know this isn’t “really” something I should post/review about. I’m just feeling tired for the day and seeing it’s already late into the night I don’t want to start a new series and end up pulling another all-nighter again. So just chew on this post for now. :p
Genius Party Beyond
Genius party beyond features short films by supposingly some of the best the anime industry has to offer. If you have been following my posts, then you’d know that I am one of those fans who does not know jack about anime producers, which studio they are from, or which director directed the anime. All I know is if I enjoyed it, its good anime.
All the episodes are 20 minutes or less short movies by different directors to show what they are capable of “uncapped”. Out of the five, the only ones I managed to make sense (and finish watching) of were Tojin Kit and Gala. I fast forwarded past the other 3. Lol! Although having sweet animations and effects. I still couldn’t help feeling sleepy. I won’t rate them though. Not sure if I’m just too old fashioned not being able to adapt to the new aged animation.

Mars Daybreak
Woot! Woot! New title to the list.
A friend strongly recommended Mars Daybreak, and being easily tempted by animes. Tadah! The half price tag also helped pushed me to buying it. Lol!
Mars Daybreak… to be reviewed later.
One Step Closer to the Dark Side
I recently got hold of 2 animes, Negima Ala Alba OAD (Original Animation DVD) and Clannad: After Story (a.k.a Clannad: Season 2). Since I didn’t watch the original series of both titles. I thought I was just gonna take it casual and wasn’t hoping for much. Boy! Was I caught off guard. I watched one episode of Clannad: After Story and found it quite good. Since so, I didn’t want to watch it with “half-a-heart”. I stopped and kept it one side thinking I’d watch it after I got hold of Clannad season 1.

So next, I went on to check out Negima Ala Alba. Lol! Although a little confusing at one point, as the anime tried to recapse 2 seasons before moving on with the story. But the first minute of watching Ala Alba and I knew this is yet another must watch anime to go on my list.

Next shortie.. Last month or so, I’ve watched a few episodes of Candy Boy. And yet again, I really enjoyed it. Was already keen on adding it to my collection when it releases here. Then I saw this. Wooo! :p As if I couldn’t get more attached to the series.

Today, I was really feeling up for it. So went home in a rush after work. Took a shower, and out I went to the nearest anime source. Came home with these titles. -_-’

I am now Rm232 poorer. Lol!
Oh no… Wait! Forgot to mention I also paid a down payment for the Sakurai Yukino and Sakurai Kanade 1/8 figure above. MuaHHAHahHAHAhahAHAH! I have finally lost all sense of rationality. Another Rm100 gone. What do you think of my first collectible figure? Rather average right?
So tell me, have I moved one step closer to the dark side? :p Of being an otaku that is. Next shopping list! a nice display cabinet for it.
Update 2009-05-15: Rm is the currency for Malaysia by the way. A slightly messed up country lazing around South East Asia. I would comment more but I don’t want to get political and end up in jail (like the last few guys who actually did).
DragonBall Kai
DragonBall Kai is essentially a remastered version of the original series. Truth be told, I didn’t really understood what remastered actually meant. What I had in mind was a complete redraw but with the same story and script. Well, after watching the first 2 episodes, instantly I know this is gonna be another pass. Lol! But what I’m curious now is whether the animation will improve in the later episodes as compared to the current first few.
DragonBall Kai
Comments: Will probably take a dive into this series midway if the animation improves, otherwise, I’m just gonna skip it.
Marie & Gali
Marika moves to a town and finds that all the neighbors are famous scientists. Galileo Galilei is living next door, Isaac Newton is working in a grocery store, and John Ambrose Fleming is doing a part-time job at an electronic store. They teach Marika science comically with jokes, dances and music. For example, “Fleming’s left hand rule” will be taught with a hip-hop song “Love Coil” sung by Fleming himself. Source: MyAnimeList.net
Most will be surprised when I say this, but Marie & Gali is actually not a bad anime. What felt good about this title was the way they talked. During the first 2 episodes, every sentence was short and direct and I could really learn some Japanese as simple as it may be. Not only that I actually find the animation acceptable, “Flash”y or not. I guess I just really dig animes with bright and solid colors. And don’t forget the educational factor, as viewers will learn about (from the first 2 episodes) gravitational force, Leonardo da Vinci, Newton and many more from later episodes I’m sure.
Marie & Gali
Comments: Gonna give this anime a pass, story wise ain’t really my cup of tea.
Basquash!

Not sure if anyone is checking out the trailer. But Basquash! looks like an upbeat anime. Could possibly be something to look forward to. From the trailer it looks like some mecha basketball style sports involved. But we’ll have to wait for the anime to find out. The graphics and CG is indeed nice. Let’s just cross our fingers and hope that it won’t be another ‘Buzzer Beater’ and preferably something better than ‘Air Gear’.

Basquash!
Looking forward to review this anime!
Cosmos Pink Shock
Mitsuki Hayami left Earth aboard a rocket to find a love that she’d lost at the age of 4. Now, she’s seventeen and rides a pink vessel known as the Pink Shock, breaking rules and recklessly flying through borders. Sent to stop Pink Shock is woman-hating Captain Gatsby, who ended up taking a liking for her instead.
Lol! I have no idea how to rate this anime. One words says it all. It’s old Skool baby! 1986.
